A bill sponsored by New Jersey State Senator John Burzichelli calls for the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (BPU) to study the feasibility of developing advanced nuclear reactors. The Senate Environment and Energy Committee approved the bill. It would direct the BPU to conduct a study in coordination with the Department of Environmental Protection and the State Economic Development Authority and submit a report to the governor and legislature within 18 months of being enacted.
