State officials have approved more than $265 million in water quality and infrastructure grants across New York State aimed at reducing flooding, protecting drinking water and modernizing aging systems.Ā
In Westchester County, communities including Yonkers are benefitting from the investment. Yonkers alone will receive more than $6.66 million for culvert replacements and work on Troublesome Brook, a waterway that regularly floods during severe weather.
The statewide funding supports 175 projects that enhance drinking water sources, update wastewater and stormwater infrastructure, reduce pollution and build climate resiliency. Another portion of the investment supports flood mitigation and watershed protection efforts in vulnerable communities.
